School Information:
Dutch Valley Elementary is located in a rural farming community. The school currently has approximately 125 students. The original school was built by the community in 1840. It was built on land donated by a local family. It burned to the ground following the civil war, and was then relocated to a church. The current building was started in 1915; however it burned again and was rebuilt in 1956. The school has since been remodeled and additions have been made. The gym is the newest addition, and is known as the best gym in the county.
This year the school has a new principal, Jennifer Foust. Her background is in special education. She is enthusiastic about improving the school. Her first improvement was the addition of a playground with modern playground equipment. She stated that she is working towards painting the inside of the school, and brightening its overall appearance. She is working to bring the educators up to par with the new core standards and evaluation system. Mentor Information:
